Join Nancy and Fran for a Hybrid knitalong of the newest Marie Greene KAL, "Spill the Tea." We'll meet on Thursday evening August 1st from 7-8PM. There will be little treats and an all-around good time, as expected from an Olive Knits KAL! Marie Greene will continue her own Facebook group which is active and has loads of helpful conversation.
Crochet the V-shaped tote from Ispie Raffia July 24th and 31st, 7-8PM. $35 includes the pattern.

Stella from Ispie Raffia is coming to teach techniques for her V-shaped Mesh Tote! The tote takes two rolls of her premium, soft, eco-friendly Raffia. She'll discuss how to create the oval bottom, the decreases to the handle and also how to make her signature handle support, a tube around the shoulder strap which makes your bag easier to hold. Held on two consecutive Wednesday nights, July 24th and 31st, from 6-7PM,  this class will include the pattern, and we ask you buy the supplies from us.
Crochet workshop for the Granny Square Chicken with Clayton Leadbetter; One session class,  August 12th, 7-9PM, $45,
Clayton will teach how to construct the adorable Granny Square Chicken in-store on August 12th, from 7-9PM.  You'll need to know crochet basics, like how to chain, single and double crochet.  There will be kits available for purchase.
Learn the Painting with Beads Scarf with Gemma, August 20th or 24th, $35. (Zoom option $30)
Gemma will teach a bit of beading in the Painting with Beads scarf in a hybrid class either on Tuesday, August 20th 7-8:30PM or Saturday, August 24th, from 9-10:30AM.  You'll need to know knitting basics, but she'll help with beading techniques and will have beads available for purchase. Class will include the pattern, by Pope Vergara, due out on Ravelry on July 7th.
Knit the Heirloom Quilt Cardigan with Nancy on Thursdays August 15th, September 5th, 26th, October 24th November 7th.
Our next Thursday night knitalong will be the Heirloom Quilt Cardigan by Kathryn Seeburger. This group chooses a project and meets on Zoom on Thursdays from 7-8PM. While there is no cost to join, there is no help provided-it's just a social knitalong. For this project, you'll need to know intarsia/colorwork, and want to seam the squares you'll knit into a sweater.  To sign up, email us!
Join Gemma's workshop on the Gloam Cardigan, Saturday Mornings from 9-10AM on September 7th, 14th, 28th, and October 19th.
Gemma's next workshop will be for the Gloam Cardigan by Caitlyn Hunter. The  class will cost $60 in person, $45 to Zoom and include Gemma's videos and the pattern.
From Ravelry:
"Gloam is a boxy, versatile cardigan featuring easy knit and purl texture. Knit in pieces, this cardi is a fun and relaxing knit. Easily customize yours by adjusting the length, working stripes or a fade, or color-blocking!

Please note that the texture pattern is charted only. It is quite simple, and a great chart for beginners to follow!

This sweater is knit flat from the top down in pieces and seamed at the shoulders and sides. The sleeves are then picked up and worked in the round. Finally the front band is picked up and worked. Circular needles are recommended to accommodate the large stitch count and are needed for the sleeves.

Gloam is an oversized, open-front cardigan designed to be worn with 15-20” 38-51 cm of positive ease at the bust, including the front bands. The sleeve circumference is designed to fit with 8-12” 20.5-30.5 cm of positive ease."

You'll learn charts, seaming, and simple pieced sweater construction. You need to know how to knit and purl, and want to work with charts rather than words.
Crochet Workshop with Clayton Leadbetter-Monday mornings from 10-11:30 AM. 10% discount for supplies purchased in-store for his workshop.

Clayton is offering his Crochet Workshop at Knitapestry! If you have experience with crochet, join him to learn new techniques as well as get guidance.  You'll need to buy a "book" of 4 90-minute sessions for $80; since the classes don't have to be taken in consecutive weeks, you must let Clayton know you're coming. We ask that you use those prepaid sessions within six months. Buy your sessions through the shop. It'll be available online soon as well. And we recommend a private lesson if you're a beginner: call the shop to set one up.

Knit the Rainbow is a charity dedicated to helping at-risk LGBTQ youth. We'll be a drop-off location for garments for this group. (And no, items don't have to be rainbow-colored!)

"Knit the Rainbow (KtR) was founded in April, 2020 after the Founder, Austin Rivers, discovered the housing disparities facing LGBTQ+ youth in New York City. Austin learned there were a few nonprofits dedicated to providing housing and/or shelter for this community; however, he knew there was still more to be done; this is where KtR was born.

Austin learned to knit while performing on a tour in Japan and felt he could use these skills to provide warm protective winter garments for LGBTQ+ youth facing homelessness. KtR hopes to educate people across the country about the housing crisis these youth are facing and increase the number of youth served by asking volunteers to knit or crochet at home and donate the garments to KtR to be distributed in New York City and Chicago.

KtR has big plans for the future. We hope to not only these cities, but to eventually provide winter protective garments to homeless LGBTQ+ youth across the country. In addition, we plan to partner with other nonprofits who provide shelter and housing to these youth and offer knit/crochet classes for their residents so they too can knit garments for themselves and the rest of the community facing this housing crisis."

Yarn Donations for Ridgecrest Senior Housing:
Help local residents make hats and clothing for a variety of charities. These knitters are motivated and prolific...we're happy to play our small part!  We'll take your CLEAN yarn and bring it to the senior center, where residents will work on their projects.  Your destash is ultimately comfort for a person in need, and there's the added piece where these knitters connect and are engaged not only with each other, but with the community. Please: no needle donations.
