W inter Wonder Wardrobe Crochet Ornament Class with Clayton-two sessions on December 2nd and 9th, 3-4:30PM.
Join Clayton to crochet his own collection of adorable holiday ornaments, including a miniature sweater, mittens, hats, stocking, and snowflake, great for decorating a tree, garland or even as gift toppers. Yarn kits include plenty of holiday yarn colors to make all of Clayton's original designs and more. He will guide you in their construction and how to block and stiffen the snowflake with glue. Bring your own 4mm & 5mm hooks. You likely won't complete all the ornaments during the two classes, but you'll get a good start and cover all the tricky bits, so you can make the whole collection by the holidays! The cost is $60.

Knit a pair of Skew socks with Nancy on Thursday evenings in December. Our next Thursday night knitalong will be Skew Socks! This group chooses a project and meets on Zoom on Thursdays from 7-8PM. This unusual pattern, created by Lana Holden, was originally published in Knitty Magazine in 2009. It's for adventurous sock knitters: they're toe-up, and include short rows. This group is mainly social...no instruction is given. Call the store or email us to sign up for this free knitalong.

Crochet Workshop with Clayton Leadbetter-Monday mornings from 10-11:30 AM. 10% discount for supplies purchased in-store for his workshop.
Clayton is offering his Crochet Workshop at Knitapestry! If you have experience with crochet, join him to learn new techniques as well as get guidance. Coming up: Sissal Kristiansen, November 17th: A Stitch in Time: The Faroese Fisherman Sweater and Its Significance Charlotte Stone, December 15th, 1PM EST: The Joyful and Captivating World of Colorwork Socks!
Next Up: Sissal Kristiansen:
Sheep outnumber humans on the Faroe Islands, home to just 55,000 people. Centuries ago, the remote archipelago relied on wool and knitting as primary exports, but as fishery became more important, wool remained vital for providing knitwear to fishermen braving the North Atlantic. Sheep, Sea and Sweater rhyme – and the rise in fishery gave rise to the iconic Faroese Fisherman Sweater, known for its striking patterns and colourwork, and still today, it is significant in Faroese knitting. The islands' isolation and limited land fostered a unique culture that continues to thrive today, even as the Faroese enjoy modern lifestyles. In her presentation, Sissal Kristiansen will guide you through the rich history and culture of Faroese knitting. She will explore its development and introduce the distinctive traits of the two-layered wool produced by Faroese sheep, a breed belonging to the Northern European short-tail family, discussing its advantages and challenges then and in today’s world. Register now for a virtual visit to learn about these stunning, woolly islands through Fiberside Chats!
This is a live Zoom Event on Sunday, November 17th at 1:00pm EST, 12:00pm CST, 11:00am MST, 10:00am PST, 7:00pm

Knit the Rainbow is a charity dedicated to helping at-risk LGBTQ youth. We'll be a drop-off location for garments for this group. (And no, items don't have to be rainbow-colored!)
"Knit the Rainbow (KtR) was founded in April, 2020 after the Founder, Austin Rivers, discovered the housing disparities facing LGBTQ+ youth in New York City. Austin learned there were a few nonprofits dedicated to providing housing and/or shelter for this community; however, he knew there was still more to be done; this is where KtR was born.
Austin learned to knit while performing on a tour in Japan and felt he could use these skills to provide warm protective winter garments for LGBTQ+ youth facing homelessness. KtR hopes to educate people across the country about the housing crisis these youth are facing and increase the number of youth served by asking volunteers to knit or crochet at home and donate the garments to KtR to be distributed in New York City and Chicago.
KtR has big plans for the future. We hope to not only these cities, but to eventually provide winter protective garments to homeless LGBTQ+ youth across the country. In addition, we plan to partner with other nonprofits who provide shelter and housing to these youth and offer knit/crochet classes for their residents so they too can knit garments for themselves and the rest of the community facing this housing crisis."

Yarn Donations for Ridgecrest Senior Housing: Help local residents make hats and clothing for a variety of charities. These knitters are motivated and prolific...we're happy to play our small part! We'll take your CLEAN yarn and bring it to the senior center, where residents will work on their projects. Your destash is ultimately comfort for a person in need, and there's the added piece where these knitters connect and are engaged not only with each other, but with the community.
